I’m no expert photographer. I only take snaps using my phone. But what am I going to do with all the content I’ve taken so far? Post it here!

Rotterdam has a special place in my heart. Since July 2021, the city has been my home.

In the Netherlands, it is the second largest city and municipality in terms of population after Amsterdam. Many would hear its name because of the well-connected and well-organised port. And depending on the source I read, that is the largest in Europe.

The architecture is modern and eclectic at the same time. Some find fault in the lack of classic elements in its style. But can you blame the city if a huge chunk of it got bombed during the war?

It is home to a diverse population (of which I am proudly part of). Back in 2021, the mayor was apparently awarded the most inclusive in the world.

For places I’ve visited in the Netherlands, you can visit these links: Rotterdam, Amsterdam and Groningen.

Here are five pictures I took while living in Rotterdam:

Kralingen Bos is worth the walk or the cycle, especially when the weather cooperates. The right timing matters when I want to capture a bird staying still, during sunset, and in a picturesque area.

Besides wondering how people go about their routine when living in cube shaped houses, I will not pass up the opportunity for a great photo. It’s a quirky architectural feat that I don’t see every day (or any other day to be honest). Apologies for the inadvertent finger that I cannot unsee because I’ve seen it.

My Dutch friend enjoyed making beer towers to pass time. He used to send his creations over Whatsapp. When we finally caught up, after several drinks, he left my place and I made mine (using Dutch beers only) from the numerous rounds we had.

The true definition of peace is the co-existence of people, bikes, cars, and trams in one road. This one is taken at the iconic Erasmus bridge.

I don’t know what the structure is supposed to symbolise. But it looks cool (or hot because people appear to be melting).

All photos were taken from 2021 to 2022
