Stories from Travel: Perfectionism, Tallinn

I asked my friend if he thought it was a good idea to ride a helicopter over the city of Tallinn. And while he supports my adventures, and my quest to try everything at least once, he suggested that I put my curiosity on hold. “Wait for another opportunity. Flying over the Grand Canyon would be more thrilling and gives you a better view.”

And the story seemed familiar. I was in Vilnius and I saw hot air balloons in the air. After researching where to sign up, I started having doubts. The difference that time, the conversation was with myself. I’ve never been to Bagan and Cappadocia. But that seemed to be the more popular choice. And based on photos, their sceneries are arguably more breathtaking.

On both occasions, I went ahead and boarded with strangers. While I felt uncertain, the people around me were excited and grateful. I even had the pleasure of sharing a ride in a helicopter with a woman whose childhood dream was getting fulfilled before my very eyes.

And that’s when I knew I made the right call. I mean, who knows if I’ll ever get the chance to do any of these things again? Besides, doing this now doesn’t preclude doing it again.

And why prioritise a voice other than my own? And even those within myself, why let fear and hesitation prevail over adventure and discovery?

Say yes! Do 👏 it 👏 now 👏 !
