I’m no expert photographer. I only take snaps using my phone. But what am I going to do with all the content I’ve taken so far? Post it here!
Tallinn is the capital of Estonia and is home to more than 400,000 people (roughly 1/3 of the population). It’s old town is considered a UNESCO World Heritage Site. I always associate Tallinn with tech startups companies, being the home of Skype, Bolt, and Wise. I remember looking at jobbatical postings years ago and all of them were based in the city. What surprised me (and it shouldn’t have) is how embedded seafaring is in its history and culture.

In the meanwhile, here are 5 pictures I took while visiting Tallinn:

I felt like a proud parent watching this small contactless delivery machine do its work. My mood was a bit down but this cheered up my spirits!

I saw the cloud formation and the sun rays piercing through it as a nice lighting to the old town. Mother Nature had a different view and decided to shower us with unexpected rain a few minutes later.

Toilets are not the best tourist attractions. But apparently the one pictured here cost a fortune to build and the city is bleeding money maintaining it. A modern day symbol of corruption and inefficiency – two things I can never escape from no matter where I go.

Nothing beats seeing a fish out of water on a hot day. As I always believe, we all have to pay the rent and we all have got to eat. Earning a living is difficult.

I’ve ticked off riding a helicopter on this trip to Tallinn. But I still need to be on an operational submarine. For now, being inside a previously functioning one will do.
The trip to Tallinn happened in August 2022.
